EverWhite Wool - Technical Information

Prepared by: Dr Keith Millington, Project Leader, Sheep CRC Whiter Lightfast Wools / Senior Principal Research Scientist, CSIRO Materials Science & Engineering, Geelong Technology Precinct, Deakin University, Waurn Ponds, VIC 3216

The EverWhite wool process allows new light-stable wool products in bright whites and pastel shades to be processed and manufactured for apparel by application of a water-soluble 2- hydroxyphenyl benzotriazole UV absorber using a novel method. The new application method maintains the initial whiteness of wool, and confers highly improved wool photostability during exposure to sunlight.
